Kirkwood Gardens Day has become known as the garden sale with the best prices and best plants in the area. This annual event at Kirkwood Gardens at Squam Lakes Natural Science Center will be held on Saturday, May 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Both the upper and lower lawns at
Kirkwood Gardens in Holderness will host this annual garden sale that offers
hardy New England grown perennials and herbs; expert gardening opinions and
advice; craft vendors; home baked goods; hot and cold beverages; and much more.
All proceeds from Kirkwood Gardens Day
benefit the gardens which were established in 1995 in honor of “Sunny” Grace
Kirkwood, who served on the Science Center’s Board of Trustees for six years.
Sunny designed a one-acre garden on the grounds of the historic Holderness Inn
to include both shade and sun beds planted with a wide variety of trees,
shrubs, ferns, and flowers adapted to the northern New England climate. Today,
Kirkwood Gardens is a beautiful, peaceful, location to enjoy the many plants
that are attractive to birds, bees, and butterflies.
Kirkwood Gardens are free and open to
the public daily. They are supported by a strong group of volunteers who keep
the gardens looking their best all season long. Help support Kirkwood Gardens
and be inspired, rain or shine, on Kirkwood Gardens Day. This event is
generously sponsored by Belknap Landscape Company in Gilford.
